Over the last few years, India has been recognised for its rapid growth within the global economic arena. Without a doubt, this has been extremely beneficial for the economic development of the country.
In fact, India’s energy sector has witnessed an accelerated growth of changes in relation to technological advancements, innovative ideas and regulatory reforms. Given that we are living during the digital era, the country expects the energy sector to undergo huge changes.
NTPC Limited, a Maharatna company of Government of India, is India’s largest energy conglomerate with installed capacity of 53,651 MW and presence across the entire value chain of the power generation business. As per Forbes Global 2017 survey, NTPC is ranked 408 among the world’s 2000 biggest companies.
The company recognises human capital as a key-value differentiator. It’s been proven that it’s beneficial for the ongoing success of any economic business activity. Bearing this in mind, NTPC created “NTPC Education and Research Society” – NEARS, with the aim of fostering human capital.
NTPC School of Business (NSB) is functioning under the aegis of NTPC Education and Research Society (NEARS), an extended arm of NTPC, with the academic support of IIM Ahmedabad (IIMA). NSB has launched an AICTE approved full time 2 years residential PGDM program with specialization in Energy Management from 2018-20, which is in addition to its existing AICTE approved 15 months full-time residential PGDM(E) program for working professionals.
Both courses are designed with the aim to provide further knowledge in management learning and practices within the energy sector. This focus will then help deliver knowledge and the value-added academic skills. On top of that research enrichment services will help contribute to the development of the Indian economy.
As per the institute’s mission, the NSB aims to serve the business sector through extensive Research, Teaching, Consultancy and Ethical Management. The vision is clear – to be a world-class school of knowledge creation and dissemination within the Power industry.
In the future, the NSB hopes to broaden its range of courses and activities to develop more research, consultancy and management development programs. In the long run, this will be beneficial towards the specific needs of the energy sector.
